The Street Level advertising programme in Dundee has been running since its initiation in 1996. This was brought together by John Macdonald from Street Advertising Services, Dundee City Centre Management, Economic Development and Planning.
John Macdonald approached the council with the idea to combat flypostering and graffiti throughout Dundee City Centre and surrounding areas. He saw the inherent flaws in free for all flypostering and recognized the need for a regulated system which would provide an attractive format whilst maintaining the street credibility by prioritizing the local and national entertainment industry i.e. The Music Industry, Theatres, Local and National Promoters.
Our flagship site was the front of the Old Dundee Rep. This was boarded up painted and framed.
After the success of the initial site SAS was asked to take over and maintain the Overgate Centre while it was being regenerated into a brand new shopping centre. This created over 300 spaces and turned what would have been a vandalized graffiti mess into an attractive city centre site.
